Becoming a Member

If you would like to learn more about what it means to be a United Methodist, the history of our church, and ministry opportunities here at Trenton: First, you can come to a Membership Class. Attending the class is simply exploratory; however, if you would like to become a member of Trenton: First, the class is a necessary part of that process.

All are welcome to explore faith life here at Trenton: First without becoming a member but our hope is that each person who comes through our doors prayerfully considers joining the church in membership.

Membership in the United Methodist Church is at its core a covenant of community and mission. The final question asked of all people becoming members of the church is: “As a member of this congregation, will you faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?” Prayer, presence, gifts, service, and witness are the ways in which we contribute to the body of Christ and how we support one another in ministry with God and God’s people. The covenant does not end without a response from the congregation however, as the congregation confirms their own commitment to prayer, presence, gifts and service, as well as affirm their love and care over new members to do all in their power to increase new member’s faith, confirm their hope, and perfect them in love.

Lunch and childcare are provided for each class.
